We reached out to our incredibly talented friend Branson Maxwell to learn a little bit more about wedding photography and ask the questions you all have been wondering! At Salt Lake Bride, we’re so lucky to have a community of passionate photographers dedicated to ensuring your perfect day is beautifully captured!

Let’s get into the interview!

1. What got you started in wedding photography? In videography?

I started doing travel photos/videos which is how I learned lighting and editing and then grew my company from there.

2. What is your favorite part of wedding photography and videography?

My favorite part is seeing my couple’s reactions whenever I deliver the photos/videos.

3. How soon should you book your photographer in advance of your wedding?

As soon as you are engaged. 9-15 months before your wedding.

4. What should you look for when choosing a photographer?

Everything should be considered when choosing a photographer. Including editing style, customer service, price point, personality, & reviews.

5. How would you describe your photography style?

Branson describes it as “Timeless and romantic.” On his website, you can read more as he details that,  “I edit my work to look natural and bright so that it stays visually stunning forever. I avoid using trendy filters that go in and out of style”

6. What different packages do you offer and recommend for the best engagement to wedding experience?

I offer both photo and video packages that include sessions before the wedding day. I am also one of the only wedding photographers in Utah that has a floral company as well! Check out @wildearth.designs so I can do your florals too.

7. How long is the timeline from the wedding day to receiving the photographs?

Usually around 6-8 weeks.

8. Any last advice?

Make sure to look at your Fiancé during the ceremony. If you look toward your officiant all of the shots during the ceremony will be of the back of your head.

We are so grateful to Branson and can’t wait to see all your fabulous wedding pictures!!
