Being a “DIY bride” is becoming more and more popular with pinterest and blogs giving you all the ideas, inspo, and information you need! Centerpieces are a major part of your wedding and we are here to teach you how to make the perfect one!

Step one: Choose a base

To display your beautiful arrangement, and give your centerpiece a “frame” you will need a base. Circular is most popular but certainly not the only option. Choose a shape and material that fits your personal style and color palette. Some suggestions are things like mirrors, wood slabs, greenery round, placemats, or even a literal picture frame!

Step two: Personal touch

Whether it’s engagement pictures, baby pictures, or handwritten notes, pick something that is unique to you and your future spouse to display on your centerpiece. People want to see YOU and the life you and your partner are wanting to create together. Some people bring in notes from kids they teach, pawprints from their pets, or love notes the couple has exchanged. Don’t be afraid to get creative!

Step three: Incorporate your colors

The colors you pick will most likely be in attire and florals but don’t forget to bring those colors into your centerpiece. This can be through floral arrangements on the table as around the base, in a fishbowl or in the classic flower vase. Other creative ways to incorporate your colors are jewels, pots, mini paintings or any other unique ideas you may come up with!

Step four: Rule of three

It is an interior design and aesthetics rule that items look best in groups of three. Try to follow this. On top of your base pick something tall, medium, and short when compared to each other. Maybe it’s a tall floral vase, with a medium candle and a short framed picture or note.

Step five: Little, but important details

Remember little details like table shape and eye level. You don’t want to block views across tables by having too tall of centerpieces, you also don’t want the centerpieces to be completely overlooked by being too short or small. We recommend about 9 to 12 inches off of the table. Keep in mind your table shape. Is it long and slender? Circular? Square? Or even a mix of shapes? Make sure your centerpiece matches or can be adapted to the table space you want to decorate.

Step six: Have fun!

Planning for a wedding can be so stressful! Let this be fun, creative, and simple!
