    Wedding Registry Considerations

    Brigham Young
    February 9, 2022
Time to start your wedding registry? Creating a wedding registry is an exciting part of wedding planning, however, it can be overwhelming knowing where to start. Many couples wonder when to register, what to register for, and where to register. Here are answers to some of the questions you might be asking!

    When?

It’s never too early to start creating a wedding registry once a wedding date is decided. In fact, the registry should be made as soon as possible following the engagement so that friends and family can begin buying gifts. It’s recommended that a couple create their registry three to six months in advance and keep it active for a year following the wedding. Be sure that your address is entered correctly so that all of your gifts are sent to the right spot. In addition, it is wedding etiquette to send thank you notes to those who send you gifts within 6 months after your wedding.

    Where?

Couples should create registries at two to three retail stores with items of multiple price ranges. It is important to look at the store’s policy on tracking, exchanges, and selection before deciding. These perks are important to you and your guests. Common gift registry websites include Target, Amazon, Bed Bath and Beyond, Crate and Barrel, Wayfair, and Ikea.

    What?

Prior to creating a wedding registry, a couple should take inventory and decide which items are needed and wanted. When creating the registry, start by listing basic everyday items such as cups, plates, cleaning supplies and then decide which wants you will include on the list. There should be a variety of items for guests to choose from. Don’t be afraid to add gift card options to your registry which makes shopping easier for the guests. When deciding how many items to include on the registry, we recommend having the same number of items as the number of announcements you plan to send. It’s better to have more than not enough items on the registry. Click here for more registry ideas! Good luck creating your dream wedding registry!
