Your wedding day is one you’ll never forget! For that reason, many brides feel the pressure to make everything perfect, often forgetting to enjoy the moment. We’ve compiled three pieces of advice from been-there, done-that brides who wish they had known this when they were in your shoes.

You Don’t Fit the Dress, The Dress Fits You

Your dress should fit you- not the other way around. Many brides feel like they need to change themselves to fit into their dream dress and go on restrictive diets before their wedding day. But the truth is, no one who attends your wedding is going to care if you lost five pounds beforehand. The people you invite to your wedding are coming to celebrate you and your marriage. Pick a dress that flatters your own unique figure so that you can feel confident. And remember- enjoying your special day to the fullest will be a lot easier when you’re not on an empty stomach.

Make Sure to Eat on Your Big Day

Speaking of eating, our next tip is to designate someone else to make sure that you do! So many brides get caught up in the busyness of the day and never have a chance to eat the food they spent hours planning and picking out. Make sure that you have someone bring you breakfast the morning of the big day. Eating a good breakfast will help you feel energized for the rest of your big day! Designate a friend, family member, or bridesmaid to save a plate of food and cake for you before it runs out, and to make sure you always have a drink in your hand.  Each of your guests will want a moment to talk to you and congratulate you, but they likely won’t think about the fact that you, like them, want to enjoy the refreshments! So instead of trying to sprint to the food table in between conversations, let someone else do it for you!

Enjoying the Moment Eliminates Picture Pressure

Our third and perhaps most important tip is to focus on good moments, not good pictures! The whole purpose of hiring a photographer is so that the good moments can be captured- so make them memorable! Create a list of specific shots you want beforehand, and then leave the rest of the pictures up to the person who is taking them. It’s your special day so make sure you actually live it and enjoy it- you’ll look better and happier in your pictures if you do!
