    Multi-instrumentalist Lloyd Miller leads the Worldclass Combo as well as SwingnJive, & L.A.Blues & Salt City Saints . Miller has been playing jazz on various instruments since 1950 in California, several other states, throughout Europe and the Middle East. He has scored traditional jazz world premiers for Utah Symphony, Colorado Springs Symphony and Salt Lake Symphony. He won Intercollegiate Jazz Festival trophies three consecutive years in the 1960s and several recent Utah Composers Guild awards.  Miller earned a PhD in Middle East Studies from the Univeristy of Utah.  With a dissertation on music and song texts which has been published by Curzon Press under the title Music and Song in Persia.

    Q: Where has Worldclass Combo performed? 

    A: Worldclass Combo has performed under various configurations all over Utah in most main hotels, ski lodges, festivals, some classy restaurants, many times at U of U, BYU, Weber State University, at Westminster College, Salt Lake Community College and at private homes. The have played many weddings, company parties, receptions and almost daily during the 2002 Olympics in several venues. They have played in various Utah communities throughout the state, at UNLV in Nevada and Idaho State University. The founder has played for 6 years throughout Europe in France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and Italy.

    Q: What bands influenced the music Worldclass combo plays? 

    A: Worldclass Combo’s music is influenced by Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue album, Horace Silver, Oscar Petersen, Stan Getz, Jimmy Giuffre and other jazzmen from the 50s. 

    Q: What’s in the Worldclass Combo repertoire? 

    A: Worldclass Combo plays jazz standards from the 1940s and 50s such as: Now’s the Time, Back Home in Indiana, Lover Man, Autumn Leaves, The Preacher, Route 66, Satin Doll, Moanin,’ Doxy, Foggy Day in London Town, My Funny Valentine, If I Were a Bell. etc.
