Wedding Invitation Wording

Wedding planningis hard enough without having to think of all the different ways your Wedding Invitationscould be worded. Here are a few things that you should remember to include in your invite and a few examples of the most common formats that we have seen people write on their invites (but honestly, it’s your wedding so you can just go crazy with it).

What You Should Include

There are so many creative ways to create a wedding invite, but you have to make sure you have the essential details on there. So, here’s a quick list of things that should be written on the invite or included in the envelope!

1. The Bride and Groom’s Names - Everyone needs to know whose wedding it is! Most people put their parents' names on the invite too, but it’s a personal preference.
2. The Date and Time - When’s the wedding going to be? People need to start booking their flights, planning their road trips, and reserving hotels for the big days! The main invitation should have the wedding and reception dates, and if you want, you can include a separate piece of paper that has any other important dates (i.e. luncheon, bridal / bachelor party, etc.). Also, remember to put the time on there! 
3. The Location - This should include both the wedding and the reception venue addresses and if they’re at the same place, even better! Just remember to mention that they’re both hosted by the same venue.
4. Wedding Registry - This is the most important one for me because… free gifts! People want to celebrate you and the new life that you’re starting, so let them! This can be put directly on the invitation, but we have also seen people create a separate business-sized card in there, that has the wedding registration information on it. As a side note, make sure you’re constantly checking your wedding registry site, and updating and adding more items on it.

Extra Details You Can Include

1. The Background - There are so many ways to be creative with this! Some people put an engagement photo as the background or the card or a simple design with their designated wedding colors. No matter what you choose to do, make sure it’s personal to you and your future spouse, and that it’s something that you love.
2. Creative Invites - These days, there are so many trends for different wedding invitations. We’ve seen some that feature a traveling theme, a vintage theme, and so much more! Wedding invites can be an adventure to create and open, so make it fun for you and the people who will be receiving them!
3. Extra Notes - As I said before, there are so many ways to structure an invite; the invite can be simple and there can be additional slips of paper on the inside with additional information. Some things that you can include are dress code, an RSVP card and envelope for them to mail back (or an email), important date cards, wedding registry cards, etc. If your invite doesn’t have a photo of you and your fiance on it, then you may want to consider adding in a photo! Everyone wants to see the happy couple.
4. The Packaging - A big trend that’s coming back for invites, are wax stamps! You can include twine, flowers, or really anything into these wax stamps, but they are cute and aesthetically pleasing for your envelope. Also, spend the money on a return address stamp! Believe me, it will save you so much time and is definitely worth it (unless a company is doing the addresses for you… then you don’t have to worry about it!).

Brown and Thomas Brian Smith son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael G. Smith are pleased to announce their marriage All of these examples would then be followed with something similar to this: On Friday, the 21st day of June, 2022 At six o’clock in the evening At the Royal Inn Restaurant Springfield, California Reception to follow Remember, you should decide yourself what form you prefer the most - it could be a mix of these examples! Don’t worry too much about the Wedding Invitation Wording - all people really need to know is that you are in love and you’re getting married! There are so many different ways to word your invitations. Just make sure that you don’t get caught up in the wording and miss the date for sending the invitations out. It’s more important to get them out to your guests in time than to have the perfect wording.
