Your wedding day is such a special day, but it can have a lot of moving parts in the months leading up to it. Vendors are one area of wedding planning that can get a little confusing to keep track of. In this guide, we'll dive into the need-to-knows about wedding vendor contracts so that you can feel conifident you are signing on for exactly what you want. With these tips, your wedding day dreams can become reality--with a lot less stress!

    1. Understand the Basics

Before getting stuck on all the details of a vendor, take some time to go over the basics. What services are you looking for and does this vendor provide all of them? What is the agreed-upon price for said services? How long will the service go on the wedding day? Understanding these basic terms sets the foundation for the beginning of your agreement with your vendor.

    2. Payment Schedules and Terms

Now we can get into the very important but sometimes smaller print in a vendor agreement: payment! Take very careful notes about the vendor's payment expecations. Are there deposits, installment plans, or additional fees? When are the payments due and what is the best way to pay them? Understanding these terms will help you avoid any budget surprises later on.

    3. Cancellation and Refund Policies

Life can be unpredictable and wedding plans may change. This is why its important before signing any contracts that you understand the vendor's cancellation and refund policies. With this in mind, you can make changes without worrying about unknown reprecussions.

    4. Detailed Services and Deliverables

Make sure you fully understand the scope of services and deliverables your vendors are agreeing to in the contract. This may include number of flower arrangements, hours of photography during the wedding day, catering menues and guest counts, or other relevant deliverables. Ensuring that your contract is detailed and all-inclusive of the services you talk about with your vendor will make sure everyone is on the same page come wedding day.

    5. Finalization and Review

Don't be afraid to ask for a final meeting with your vendor to go over the contract before you sign. Come to the meeting with any lingering question and be prepared to make last-minute adjustments. Navigating wedding vendor contracts is a vital part of wedding management. It sets the stage for your wedding day. By clarifying terms with each wedding vendor, you not only ensure a smooth wedding day but also create a space for open-communication with your vendor. Happy planning!
