6 Tips to Picking the Perfect Wedding Venue

When beginning the wedding planning process there can be hundreds of decisions to make. So many decisions can leave soon-to-be brides wondering where in the world they should even start, and this is stressful! Wedding planning does not have to be stressful!  So, with that being said, where is the best place to start when beginning your wedding planning journey? We have two words for you: Wedding. Venue.  And why is choosing a wedding venue so important? Once you’ve selected a location for your wedding you can visualize where your dream day will be happening. All the other decisions for the big day will become much easier. Not only that but picking your wedding venue early can greatly lower the risk of missing out on getting the location at the top of your list.  Simply put, choosing a wedding venue will save you so much time, energy, and stress as you go forth in your wedding planning journey.  So, without further ado, here are six tips that we’ve put together to help you pick out the perfect venue:

    1. Location

First things first, when picking a venue, it’s important to consider location. If you are inviting a lot of guests, for example, you might consider picking a location that is easily accessible, or that doesn’t require a lot of traveling. This is especially important if you are planning on having two different locations for both the ceremony and reception. Trust us, your guests will be thanking you for not making them drive two hours to get from one place to the next. Also, speaking of driving, make sure that your venue has plenty of parking so that your guests aren’t stuck walking a marathon’s distance just to get there.

    2. Style

Usually, the style of your wedding can be customized to fit your preferences regardless of the venue. That being said, before getting your heart set on a certain location, make sure that your venue’s nonremovable décor doesn’t clash with your own personal style. It’s also important to note that the amount of work you put into your wedding decorations will vary from venue to venue. For example, if you go for a location such as a barn, you will have to spend more time picking lighting arrangements and setting up tables, whereas other venues may already have those details covered.

    3. Capacity

Okay, this one is super important in making your wedding as comfortable as possible. In order to maximize comfort, you will want to make sure that the size of your venue matches the size of your guest list. If you choose a venue that is too small for the number of guests that you’ve invited, everything will feel crammed, whereas if the venue is too big, you might end up investing a bunch of money on decorations that are ultimately just fillers.

     4. Budget

We’re not gonna sugar-coat it, wedding venues can be expensive! The average price of a Utah wedding venue typically ranges anywhere from $5300 to $7100 depending on the time of year and number of guests. That being said, before seriously investigating different venues, make sure to look at your budget and decide how much you are willing to invest on just the venue, that way you still have the finances for other important things, like that dreamy dress you’ve wanted since you were ten, or those gorgeous letterpress invites that have been screaming your name.

     5. Date

Before becoming seriously committed to a specific wedding date, you might consider looking into the venue first. That will ensure it is available near the time of year that you want to get married. This one is especially important if your dream venue fills up fast or if you are booking a location with not much time in advance. That being said, if you have your heart set on getting married on a specific date like your grandparent’s anniversary, there is no need to fret. Just keep in mind that it may take a little longer to find that perfect venue as having a flexible wedding date will lower the chances of it already being booked on the date you want.

    6. Backup Plan

Last, but not least, always remember to have a backup plan. It doesn’t have to be too elaborate, but just be prepared for any last-minute fiascoes. This is especially important if your venue is outdoors, since the weather is about as predictable as the toss of a coin. In just a few words, it’s better to be over-prepared than under-prepared.  Overall, the most important thing is to trust your gut. Find a wedding venue that feels right and makes you even more excited to celebrate your love on that special day!
